Every business says they utilize strategy because it sounds like a responsible response however there’s two categories they either fall into, PROACTIVE and/or REACTIVE. In a PROACTIVE MARKETING STRATEGY you start with your GOAL in mind, then begin planning the foreseen challenges that are mapped out and mitigated accordingly. The content and ads are placed in advance and may maneuver due to seasons or changes in the business.
Is your ADVERTISING STRATEGY PROACTIVE or REACTIVE?
Every business says they utilize strategy because it sounds like a responsible response however there’s two categories they either fall into, PROACTIVE and/or REACTIVE. In a PROACTIVE MARKETING STRATEGY you start with your GOAL in mind, then begin planning the foreseen challenges that are mapped out and mitigated accordingly.
The content and ads are placed in advance and may maneuver due to seasons or changes in the business.
However, in REACTIVE STRATEGY, the OPPOSITE – you face the issues as they happen. Both have their place in situations.
Example: some businesses are reactionary type and that tactic makes sense, like weather dependent service providers. Even then those types of business become the most successful when they work their PROACTIVE STRATEGY CONSISTENTLY. Those with a true PROACTIVE STRATEGY that stick to it don’t panic when they have a slow day, they don’t start boosting random Facebook posts with no rhyme, reason or call to action for that matter or knowledge to whom the ad was even targeted for. “I want to reach moms so I boosted $50 why aren’t I seeing results?” So random, yikes!
Businesses that focus on their PROACTIVE STRATEGY are typically more effective at dealing with issues as they come. The sky is never falling and they don’t blow unnecessary budget on ads that don’t move the needle.
I work with both types of businesses to build and manage their strategies both PROACTIVE and REACTIONARY. The key is to ALWAYS have a PROACTIVE plan in place and in that plan have contingencies for those necessary REACTIVE “one offs”. This way ALL your efforts are effective.
Don’t be Chicken Little, the sky isn’t falling on you and if it is there are pros like me that can help you with all of it.
